Surgical Pathology
Our focus is to provide precise and accurate diagnoses for each of our patients. Our pathologists have extensive experience in surgical pathology and fellowship training in a wide range of specialties. Our pathologists offer in office consultations in order to provide optimal patient outcomes.
Frozen Sections
A frozen section gives us the ability to render an intra-operative microscopic diagnosis. This preliminary diagnosis is helpful in many oncological cases when the surgeon is attempting to determine the extent of tumor affected margins, malignancy in lymph nodes, or simply tissue identification. Although a frozen section diagnosis is not a replacement for a traditional pathological examination, it is one of the most valuable and difficult procedures that falls under the scope of pathology.
Central Oregon Pathology has frozen section labs at SCMC-Bend, SCMC-Redmond, and in our laboratory. All of our pathologists are adept at performing and diagnosing frozen sections. To request a frozen section please contact us on our frozen section hotline.
